We visited the village of Brisas del Norte to investigate their needs for the upcoming Jan. 2011 mission trip and to see how their water system was operating.
We recognized many of the kids from prior trips that greeted us upon arrival on this trip.
The water system operator in Brisas del Norte had very complete records from the past six months of water system operation to share with us. The system is functioning very well and these people, who are extremely poor, have shown great responsibility by collecting money for ongoing water system costs. They are very close to becoming self sufficient at this location with respect to operating solely from funds they collect from their residents.
MTMO inspects the records that we require to be kept by each water system to ensure operation is as intended and to keep up with needed supplies, system maintenance, etc. These records will be used to help each community budget for long term system operation.
This girl watched on as we met with the community.
Richard cuts up with the kids in front of one of the new vehicles that were provided for us on the planning trip. Antonietta has committed to having two of these vehicles to support MTMO's January 2011 mission trip to Honduras. This will be a true blessing since these vehicles are safer and more capable of traveling the roads of Honduras to the many villages we'll visit in January.
The people in Brisas del Norte shared with us that some of the valves in their water system that will need to be replaced soon. This work will be added to the list of items to be accomplished in January 2011.
Most past MTMO team members will recognize some of these kids from prior mission trips to the community of Brisas del Norte.
Before we left, this mother shared with us that her son had an operation on the bone in his leg and was in need of antibiotics that they could not afford.
The mother of the boy showed us the prescriptions she needed. MTMO purchased them for her to help enable the boy's leg to continue to heal properly.
